How To Stop Divorce With A Sneaky Little Trick – Save Your Relationship By Agreeing With Your Spouse

If your entire marriage went like your honeymoon then most people would never need to know how to stop divorce. Nor would they call it a honeymoon, it would all be just blissful marriage.

But those of us who are married know that is not how it works, marriages have ups and downs. When the downs stop recovering, though, thoughts quickly turn to how you can save your relationship.

There are also cases where one day a person wakes up to find out that his or her spouse wants a divorce, thinking that will improve their life. Often our first reaction is to try to convince our spouse that divorce is not the answer, but the more we try to change their mind, the more they dig in their heels.

Once a person thinks divorce is the answer to a problem marriage, they see almost any attempt to stop divorce as an attack against them they must defend against.

So if you want to know how to stop divorce, sometimes a sneaky little trick can be the best way to save your relationship!

That sounds kind of underhanded, though, doesn’t it, a sneaky “trick”? Well, maybe, but we are not trying to really trick your spouse, just human nature. If everything you say meets with resistance, then what happens when you agree with them?

In their current state of mind, your spouse wants everything you say to be wrong; so what if you agree, then what? Then they can actually question whether or not divorce is the right way to go – and that is what you want.

It is absolutely imperative that you be calm, rational and even tempered when discussing your marriage problems with your spouse. Never argue as that will only drive them further away. If arguing appealed to him or her then they would be happy in a bad marriage!

By agreeing with them that the marriage is in bad shape and that divorce could be the answer you take them off the defensive. After all, you cannot deny the reality that this is what it has come to, either.

Show them that you completely understand their feelings and respect their decision to end the marriage. This shows that you are taking them seriously.

Offer to talk through the points that they see as the most serious. Suggest that there be a little cooling off period for each of you to think things over; buy some time.

If divorce papers have not been filed, then your chances to stop divorce are even better, but do not give up even if they have been. Perhaps they would even agree to a trial separation; while not perfect, that is better than outright divorce, right?

This is not the only “trick” we have up our sleeve for how to stop divorce and would love a chance to share with you many more strategies to save your relationship.
