Nursing Community Conceptual Model

There have been suggestions for interagency collaboration, so as to increase programming as well as reduce costs. However there is limited theoretical understanding for all this in nursing. There has been a description of a conceptual framework that targets community interagency collaboration. This framework depicts this kind of collaboration as the function of organizational situations, environmental conditions and task characteristics. Transactional patterns in this case include formalization, intensity, structured relationships and interrelation patterns and all these are the outcomes that pattern organization, communities, clients and relations among organizations.

Clients are usually open, mutual as well as in an interaction with the environment constantly. A nurse has the responsibility of assisting the client to interact with the environment hence co-creating health. Conceptual models help in providing knowledge so as to improve practice, they assist in identifying the goals of a given nursing practice, and models also help in guiding research and curriculum. It is necessary that nursing knowledge is acquired, used and even applied in the practices that are theory based. Such model models are essential for the development of nursing as an academic discipline (Donaldson, 1978). Nursing as a discipline puts emphasis on strengthening, expanding as well as improving people’s ability to cope so as to enhance the patients’ health or wellness (Clemen, 2002).

2. Processes Related to Capacity Development

The model can be easily delineated by reviewing several steps related to capacity development. The steps include appropriate leadership in the healthcare systems and also within the community so as to drive and even manage programs; there is proper policy making and review. This ensures that diffusions and sustainability is made possible using the presented model. It also ensures appropriate use of the resources that are available in the community to enhance provision of information and building an infrastructure aimed at health promotions within the given community (Porche, 2004).

A community is composed of different aggregates that are identified in that community. For instance in community students, teachers and even the aged can be found. Going by the community conceptual model, incase a nursing program is aimed at improving the conditions of a community, then strategies that target aggregates have to be implemented. A community is usually the broader representation of the aggregates and hence its overall status is usually defined by the aggregates characteristics.

3. Application of the Model

The model can find its application for instance in a community living adjacent to a factory. The aggregates that can be found be found in that community in terms of occupation includes workers of that factory, business people among others. Health-wise, the aggregates will be composed of people with respiratory complications which are basically caused by the fumes emitted into the atmosphere by the factories. The community may also have individuals with hearing problems, individuals that have been affected by water pollution and hence they may be having abdominal complications. There may also be children or infants that have complications that are caused by the dangerous emotions that are released into the atmosphere by the factories. Another group of affected aggregates may be those with skin complications due to the chemicals prevalent in the atmosphere or in the polluted water.
