Cruises that dont require Flights

Simply put, no fly cruises are cruise holidays that don’t require you to fly to the port of departure. Applying that term to a cruise doesn’t change anything in the way that the cruise operates – it’s just like any other cruise.

“No fly” is the choice of travelers to book themselves on a cruise that departs from a nearby port so there is no need for air travel.

No fly cruises are especially popular in bad economic times – you can still enjoy your holiday on the ocean and at exotic ports but you avoid expensive airfares and baggage charges. It is not just the expense of flights that can be a deterrent, but the inconvenience as well. You can avoid the hassles of the security lines at the airport, the worry if your luggage will arrive, or even if your flight will be on time so that you don’t miss your ship’s departure time.

Cruises that require air travel are becoming more and more popular, especially in the UK where there are 24 ports from which to choose and nineteen cruise lines. Just about anybody living in the UK can get to a major cruise port by car in less than a day, and in some cases in just an hour or two. This makes it easy to take advantage of a wide variety of cruises of varying lengths. For example, from Southampton you could take a quick break to Belgium and be back in three days.

There are many European countries that have cruise ports from which to start cruises to the Mediterranean, the Baltic, and other destination. Italy, Spain, France, and Portugal all have ports that are easily accessible by car, as do Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Sweden.

A no fly cruise may not be quite as easy to accomplish in the United States, but there are still a number of ports on both the west and east coast that are within easy reach of millions of people. You can sail from New York; New Jersey; Boston, Massachusetts; Norfolk, Virginia; several ports in Florida and California; Seattle, Washington; Galveston, Texas; and Alaska. No fly cruises from US ports are often to destinations that are close by like, Canada, the eastern seaboard, Bermuda, or the Caribbean. However, several Hawaiian cruises leave from Los Angeles and San Diego, California.

If you’re interest in the type of cruise that doesn’t include the hassle of flying, look into those cruises that leave from the ports nearest to where you live. Most cruise terminals offer long-term parking. Make a leisurely drive to the port the day before your cruise departs, park the car, and board the ship. It’s as simple as that.
